Seven more Cubans seeking to leave the country entered the Czechoslovak Embassy in Havana early Wednesday, bringing to 14 the number sheltering there, an embassy spokesman said.

The Cuban government said Tuesday night that it would not negotiate the departure of any of its citizens from the mission in Havana’s Nuevo Vedado district.

Czechoslovak Embassy Press Attache Lubomir Hladik said the latest seven arrivals somehow managed to get into the embassy garden despite a police guard around the mission that had been there since Monday.

“When one of our staff opened the door this morning, they came in. They want to leave the country,” he said.

Seven Cubans entered the embassy Monday, two asking for political asylum and five seeking to tour Europe and return without fear of reprisal from the Cuban government.
