NATION : Islamic Group Claims Arco Blast
An extremist Islamic group today claimed responsibility for an explosion at a Texas chemical plant July 5 that killed 17 people.
Arco Chemical Co. of North America said from its headquarters in Newtown Square, Pa., that it has not heard of the claim and does not know whether it is valid.
The cause of the blast is under investigation, and no signs of sabotage at the plant have been reported.
A spokesman for the Islamic Liberation Front told the Associated Press that the Arco plant in Channelview, Tex., was attacked because the United States supports Israel despite “its killings and terrorism against our Palestinian families” in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip.
