VIENNA —
About 100,000 Albanians rallied Friday in support of their Communist leaders, according to Albania’s state ATA news agency. Officials were reported to have condemned those fleeing abroad and to have urged demonstrators to “be united like a fist around the party.”
The rally was staged in Skanderbeg Square in Tirana, near the row of foreign embassies used as safe haven by Albanians seeking to emigrate, according to the ATA report, monitored in Vienna.
