Galen Morris Rockney, a longtime quality-control supervisor for Hughes Aircraft, has died in Sepulveda. He was 68.

Rockney worked at Hughes in Culver City from 1962 until his retirement in 1981. Rockney moved to Little Rock 1 1/2 years ago from Sylmar.

He died Friday of cancer, said his daughter-in-law, Pat Rockney.

A native of Minneapolis, Rockney served in the Navy during World War II. After being discharged, he came to California in the early 1950s and worked as a machinist until hired by Hughes. He was fond of the outdoors and enjoyed camping at Lake Cachuma near Santa Barbara.
