WORLD : Man Sues Self in Postal Protest
A West German sued himself today for stealing his own parcel from a post office here to protest the post office being left unattended, police said.
Christian Holand, a medical student, got a note from the post office in Patras to pick up a parcel from home.
“I went to the post office and there was nobody in the parcel section. I jumped behind the counter, went through the parcels, found mine and left,” police quoted Holand as saying.
“I then went to the district attorney’s office and sued myself for stealing,” he said.
Officials in the district attorney’s office said it was the first such case they had seen. The post office has not said if it will also press charges against Holand.
