WORLD IN BRIEF : MEXICO : Workers in U.S. Send Billions Home

Mexicans who work in the United States send $6 billion back to their country every year, the Mexican Postal Service director was quoted as saying in the government newspaper El Nacional. Gonzalo Alarcon Osorio said $1 billion of this is mailed. More than 650 postal workers have been fired because of complaints from people who did not receive their money or only got part of it, he said. In 1989, the postal service received 14,000 complaints about missing money.
