The jury in Ray Buckey’s second trial told the judge today it has reached a verdict on one of eight counts against the former teacher at the McMartin Pre-School.

Superior Court Judge Stanley Weisberg told the panelists to resume their talks, and the one verdict submitted in a sealed envelope was held in court custody until jurors resolve the remaining charges.

The jury has been deliberating for two weeks and heard nearly three days of repetition of testimony earlier this week.

Buckey is charged with molesting three young girls who attended his family’s nursery school in Manhattan Beach in the 1980s.

He and his mother, Peggy McMartin Buckey, were acquitted of 52 molestation counts in an earlier trial. But the jury deadlocked on some of the charges against Buckey.
