Helionetics Inc.: The Irvine-based electronics company said its second-quarter net income was $841,000, up from $409,000 in the year-earlier period. Sales rose 38% to $7.7 million from $5.6 million. The company attributed the increases to the acquisition of Definicon International Corp. For the first six months, net income was $655,000, down from $6.2 million a year earlier. The 1989 first half included an extraordinary gain of $5.4 million resulting from a corporate reorganization during the first quarter. Sales for the six-month period increased 34% to $13.7 million from $10.2 million.
