Robert H. Wolford, retired Lockheed Corp. engineer and former Civil Air Patrol pilot, has died in Burbank. He was 80.

Wolford died Monday of natural causes, said his wife, Martha Wolford.

He was born on March 21, 1910, in Eaton, Ind., and played on the high school basketball team in his hometown. In 1942, he moved to Burbank, where he lived until his death.

During World War II, Wolford was a member of the Civil Air Patrol in the San Fernando Valley. He later worked as an engineer at Adel Precision Products in Burbank before transferring in 1962 to Lockheed, where he worked for 10 years. An avid traveler, he joined the Lockheed Trailer Club after his retirement in 1972.
