NATION IN BRIEF : LOUISIANA : Rep. Boggs Decides Not to Run Again

Rep. Lindy (Mrs. Hale) Boggs, the powerful, plantation-born dean of Louisiana’s congressional delegation, announced she will not run again for the seat she and her late husband held for 46 years. Boggs, a Democrat, would not discuss details of her decision to retire after 17 1/2 years in Washington. It was reported that Boggs, 74, had wanted to spend more time with her daughter, Princeton, N. J., Mayor Barbara Sigmund, who is suffering from cancer.
