Bob Brown has been appointed to the board of Toshiba America Electronic Components Inc. in Irvine, the first American to be named a director. He is senior vice president and group executive of the semiconductor group. Brown joined Toshiba in 1983 as national sales manager for the integrated circuit division. Before that, he was with Signetics Corp. for 10 years, and held positions at Transitron Electronic Corp., Westinghouse Electric Corp. and Western Union Telegraph.
