Rights Group Charges Cameroon Violations
Amnesty International called on Cameroon’s government Monday to release two prisoners jailed after trying to set up a political party in the one-party state.
Former bar association president Yondo Mandengue Black and Anicet Ekane, a company director, were sentenced to three- and four-year prison terms by a special military court in April, the London-based human rights group said.
The two men were among 10 people arrested in February and tried on charges of subversion and showing contempt for President Paul Biya, Amnesty International said.
