PANMUNJOM : Small Step for Korea
It’s a fragile move at best, but the scheduled signing at the truce village of an agreement on details for the highest-level talks ever between the two Koreas once again holds out hope for eventual reunification.
The agreement details arrangements for an early September visit to Seoul by North Korean Premier Yon Hyong Muk, followed about a month later by a trip to Pyongyang by South Korean Prime Minister Kang Young Hoon.
The prime ministerial talks are to focus on ways to reduce tension. But meanwhile, the two capitals continue bickering over differing proposals to allow free travel, if only temporarily, across their border.
