Long Beach : Arts Agency’s Yearly Grants Drop Slightly to $112,000

The Public Corporation for the Arts, a nonprofit agency contracted to support the arts in Long Beach, has announced the availability of a projected $112,000 in grants for community-based individual artists and arts organizations.

While the amount is down slightly from the $121,000 received by artists last year, this year’s amount reflects an increase in the city’s contribution of about $39,000, said PCA executive director Sandra L. Gibson. The discrepancy, she said, is due in part to the expiration of a three-year grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Grant applications, Gibson said, should cover the period from Oct. 1, 1990, to June 30, 1991.
