Lee and Scorsese Do the Right Thing: Film directors Martin Scorsese and Spike Lee have teamed up on a new government advertising campaign that sends teen-agers the message: Drug use can lead to unsafe sexual behavior and AIDS. The television ads were directed by Scorsese and narrated by Lee. The television, radio and print campaign focuses on people ages 12-16, a segment of the population who are “using alcohol and illicit drugs and often engage in sexual activity while under the influence of these substances,” said Charles Schuster, director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse, the agency sponsoring the $3-million public service campaign. The message found in the ads’ tag line: “AIDS. Another way drugs can kill.”
