Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.: The Akron, Ohio, firm reported a second-quarter loss of $9.4 million as sales rose slightly to $2.9 billion. The loss contrasted with a $27.1-million profit in the same period a year ago. Affecting the current results was a one-time charge of $21.4 million for the restructuring of a portion of the firm’s North American tire operations and the closing of its New Bedford, Mass., roofing systems plant.
