Opening of Library-Museum Returns Nixon to Limelight

Haven’t we had enough about the Nixon Library? There has been more coverage in The Times of this non-event than many more newsworthy stories. And for whom? If Nixon had any sense of decency, he would sink back into the obscurity in which he belongs.

Here is a man who would never take responsibility for any failure. It was always the fault of someone else--the press, Congress, his makeup man. I can still see him on television vilifying the press, demeaning his opponents and insulting those in the anti-war movement. (Those same protesters who helped bring about our withdrawal from Vietnam, an action for which he now takes full credit.)

Please spare me. Don’t run any more coverage of Nixon. Let him retire from the public eye at last.
