First Interstate Bancorp has named Lillian R. Gorman, a senior vice president, to head the human resources function of the Los Angeles bank holding company. Gorman succeeds Gerald L. Shott, who plans to take early retirement in 1991. Shott joined First Interstate as senior vice president in 1976 to head human resources and was promoted to executive vice president in 1983. Until his retirement, Shott will devote full time to executive compensation issues. Gorman will also serve on the company’s managing committee. She was elected senior vice president in 1987.
