Pittson Co.: In an unusual move, Pittson Co. has elevated two executives in its Burlington Air Express subsidiary in Irvine to serve as joint chief executives of the international air freight firm. The move follows the promotion earlier this month of David L. Marshall, Burlington’s chairman and chief executive since 1987, to the posts of vice chairman and chief financial officer of Connecticut-based Pittson. Replacing Marshall as Burlington’s joint chief executives are Roger I. MacFarlane, president of Burlington’s U.S. subsidiary for the last two years, and Peter Thorrington, head of the company’s international unit since mid-1988. Marshall will remain chairman of Burlington. A Pittson spokesman said Friday that this is the first time the company has named joint CEOs at a subsidiary.
