From Times staff and Wire reports

Iraq and Kuwait will meet in Jidda, Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday for talks aimed at resolving their differences, Saudi Arabia announced. Two weeks ago, Iraq accused its tiny neighbor of border encroachments and producing more than its quota of oil, and Iraqi President Saddam Hussein threatened use of military force. Kuwait said it hopes the talks will bring a “just settlement of all pending problems” between the two countries “in a manner ensuring the national sovereignty and legitimate rights of each country.”
