Share

Budget director Richard G. Darman suffered numerous facial cuts when he slipped on wet steps at a suburban McDonald’s restaurant over the weekend and needed 100 stitches to close the wounds.

Kim Gibson, press assistant in the Office of Management and Budget, said Darman slipped and fell at the fast food outlet in McLean, Va., on Saturday.

Darman drove himself to Washington’s Sibley Hospital, where he remained for 3 1/2 hours while being treated for the many cuts, all on his face, Gibson said today.

“He required 100 stitches,” Gibson said, declining to give any more details on the mishap.

The 47-year-old Darman was back on the job today--trying to get the budget deficit under control.
