The ‘Bomb’ in Bus Bathroom Was Really Just a Bum
Someone shouted there’s “a bum in the bathroom.”
By the time the passenger’s shout in the back of a Greyhound bus was repeated down the aisle and reached the front, it sounded to the driver like “a bomb in bathroom.”
So the driver, Charles Boyer, slammed on the brakes. And passengers scrambled for the door as Boyer waved to a state trooper for help.
Before things got straightened out Sunday afternoon, police closed the highway’s southbound lanes for about two hours, stalling traffic for 15 miles. Officers searched the bus with a bomb-sniffing dog as the passengers, who had been herded along the median strip, watched from a quarter-mile away.
