From Times Staff and Wire Reports

More than 100 members of Parliament have signed a petition urging President Wojciech Jaruzelski to resign, newspapers reported. The signatures were gathered by members of the Center Alliance, a 2-month-old political group that backs the election of Lech Walesa, Solidarity chairman, to replace the former Communist Party leader this fall, the government-owned daily Rzeczpospolita said. Gen. Jaruzelski, whose term is to expire in July, 1995, told the lower house of Parliament that he endorses plans for a September debate on when to hold elections.
