New Version of dBase is Available: Ashton-Tate, the Torrance-based personal computer software publisher, began shipping the much-awaited corrected version of its flagship product immediately. The new software program replaces an error-riddled version whose premature release more than 18 months ago led the company into a tailspin that has included layoffs, losses of about $50 million and erosion of its market share.
