WORLD IN BRIEF : LIBERIA : U.S. Urges Nations to End Arms Supply

The United States has urged other countries to stop giving arms to warring factions in Liberia, State Department spokesman Richard Boucher said. He gave no details. He also said the United States will provide 30,000 bags of rice to help feed victims of the civil war. At the United Nations, meanwhile, Secretary General Javier Perez de Cuellar met with Liberia’s U.N. representatives to discuss a U.N. role in ending the war.
