More Hope: Bob Hope says he wrote about his life to beat his kids to the job. “Look what happened to Bing Crosby, Bette Davis, Joan Crawford,” he quipped at a Denver bookstore Tuesday while signing copies of his autobiography, “Don’t Shoot, It’s Only Me.” Hope, 87, says he does not worry about death. “I’ve died many times--in Philadelphia, Jersey City, you name it.”

Check It Out: Marilyn Quayle is recovering fast from her recent hysterectomy. She caused a minor traffic jam Wednesday in a shopping center in Washington, D.C., by stopping at the Peoples Drug Store with two of her children to pick up a few things. And like any other customer, with basket in hand, she waited her turn in the check-out line.

Noble: Princess Anne’s work for poor children around the globe has earned her a Nobel Peace Prize nomination. President Kenneth Kaunda of Zambia said Wednesday he nominated the 39-year-old daughter of Queen Elizabeth II. She has traveled to 26 countries since she became president of the Save the Children Fund 20 years ago. “She loves people,” Kaunda said in a BBC interview in Lusaka, Zambia. “She has extended that love to working for helpless children.”

Just Another Jogger: Two young women sunbathing alongside the Potomac River didn’t bat an eye Wednesday when President Bush and his entourage jogged right by them. Bush eyed the women, smiled and said: “You’re on national television, ladies. Sorry about that!” Swimsuit-clad Dana Habeck, 22, of San Luis Obispo, and Linda Kreider, 33, of Philadelphia, enjoyed the media attention. “It’s great,” said Kreider.
