Countywide : Residents to Join in ‘National Night Out’

Residents of several Orange County cities will be among an estimated 20 million people across the United States expected to take part in the “National Night Out Against Crime” tonight.

Residents are being asked to turn on their exterior lights between the hours of 8 and 10 p.m. and to spend some of that time outdoors to symbolize neighborhoods uniting against crime.

Among the Orange County citiesparticipating in the event are NewportBeach, Fullerton, Huntington Beach,Garden Grove and Fountain Valley.

The national event will be photographed by a satellite. The Newport Beach Police Department helicopter will also photograph the area to show the impact exterior lighting can have upon neighborhoods.
