An 18-wheel semi-truck carrying 20,000 pounds of pork was stolen from the parking lot of a Camarillo motel Tuesday while the truck driver slept.
Gil Zimmerman, a driver for Midwest Coast Trucking, was on the last leg of a trip from South Dakota to Los Angeles when he stopped at the Comfort Inn in the 900 block of Ventura Boulevard, said Sgt. Paul Oechsle of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.
He got up at 3 a.m. to finish the drive and discovered that the refrigerated semi was gone, Oechsle said.
Sheriff’s deputies have no leads at this point, Oechsle said.
“We have no suspects,” Oechsle said. “I don’t know who’s going to buy it.”
