Jack Hale; Guided Treatment Center

Share

Jack Hale, a recovering alcoholic and drug addict who in 1975 became the founding director of Pacifica House Residential Drug Treatment Center, died Tuesday at age 49. He died at UCLA Medical Center where he was being treated for a liver ailment.

Born in the South Bay, Hale had been hospitalized several times as a young man for his addictions before he recovered and founded a treatment center in the San Fernando Valley.

He joined Pacifica--then located in Gardena--when it had only 20 beds and directed its growth to a 68-bed facility at its new location in Hawthorne.

Pacifica and other care units operated by Behavioral Health Services are funded by federal, state and county agencies.
