A QUARTER AND CHANGE

Share

In his July 5 review of Jane Smith’s “Patenting the Sun,” Allan M. Brandt began his final paragraph with the words, “A quarter-century ago, one of the Polio Pioneers who bravely volunteered . . . was none other than Jane Smith.”

Jane Smith took part in Dr. Salk’s historic test of his vaccine in 1955.

I suspect that it has, in fact, been 35 years for all of us, Mr. Brandt included.
