GM to Raise Car, Truck Prices: General Motors Corp. announced plans to raise prices on its 1991-model cars by an average 2.3%, or about $389 per car, while its light truck prices will go up about 2.9%, or $499, from comparably equipped 1990 models. The prices do not include an average hike of 0.5% last month on GM’s 1990 models. Ford Motor Co. last month posted an average increase of 3.2%, or $528, for its 1991 cars, while Chrysler Corp. last week said it will raise prices by 0.9% on its new models, although minivan prices may go up as much as 3.8%.
