NAMES IN THE NEWS : Don Ho Goes On, Sans Bubbles

From Times Wire Services

Singer Don Ho, at 60, has sworn off the tiny bubbles but entertains no thoughts of retiring.

"I don't mind some time off, to enjoy my family and stuff like that, but if I retire from entertaining, I might as well die," said Ho, whose birthday was Monday.

Ho, one of Hawaii's most popular tourist attractions, said that he quit drinking 10 years ago and that the glass he sips from during his shows usually contains ginseng tea. A colleague said the "Tiny Bubbles" singer also has quit smoking.
