SANTA PAULA : District Predicts Drop in Enrollment

Share

The Briggs School District in Santa Paula projects a decrease in enrollment of 35 students and a loss of $84,780 in its $1.2-million annual budget, a district official said Tuesday.

Supt. Carol Vines said nearly half the district’s annual budget is determined by the average daily attendance of students. The district gets $2,826 per student from the state each year, minus $15.70 a day for each unexcused absence. If enrollment doesn’t go up, the district will have to make cuts in personnel. The cuts will not be made until the 1991-92 school year, she said.
