ALTERNATIVE: Although unrelated to events in the Mideast and skyrocketing gas prices, the county is about to get six new clean-fuel buses as an experiment with alternative fuels--two each, using methanol, propane and compressed natural gas. The region’s air quality plan is forcing use of cleaner burning fuels, and the transit district is mounting this project to see which of the three fuels works best.
