Republican National Chairman Lee Atwater’s brain tumor has worsened and he has undergone additional radiation treatments, GOP officials said. Atwater, 39, entered George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C., on Aug. 2, reportedly suffering from a fever, and received radiation treatments Wednesday, a committee spokeswoman said. She added that his doctors are concerned but hopeful, and that Atwater remains alert. He collapsed before a speech in March and underwent radiation treatment after doctors determined that he had an inoperable brain tumor.
