On Saturday, a field of 40 midget cars is expected to compete, with 1989 USAC Western States champion Robby Flock of the City of Industry among the entrants.

Also, 40 three-quarter midgets are expected for a full program of races, including a 20-lap main event featuring current Western States points leader Jay Drake of Valencia.

Gary Schroeder of Burbank, the winningest main-event driver in USAC three-quarter midget history, also will be in the field.

Ventura’s stock-car series, normally held on Friday nights, will move to a 6 p.m. Sunday start to close the weekend.

A contingent of about 25 street stocks and 25 mini stocks are scheduled to race in the one-quarter-mile dirt track oval and figure-eight races.

More than 50 cars and drivers will compete for a $2,000 purse in the demolition derby immediately after the stock-car program.
