Animal Trainer Cruelty Charges
I was shocked and dismayed to read about the farce of a trial in the Bobby Berosini case (“Spectacle, Complete With Apes, in Vegas Courtroom,” Part A, Aug. 8). It is quite obvious Judge Myron Leavitt is biased against the defendants (PETA, local animal rights advocates, and ex-Stardust Hotel dancers), since he received campaign contributions from Bobby Berosini’s employer, the Stardust Hotel.
It’s no wonder so many Americans are disgusted with the justice system. Not only is the system tainted when Leavitt refuses to disqualify himself on the basis of conflict of interest, but when Berosini’s abuse of the orangutans is so evident and Leavitt refuses to let animal experts testify in the defendants’ behalf, Leavitt’s ability to conduct a fair trial should be seriously questioned.
