From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Earth First! leaders planned a weekend vigil outside the home of Pacific Lumber Co. President John Campbell in a demand for his arrest for alleged violence against a group of protesters. The incident occurred Friday in nearby Korbel after protesters blocked two entries to a parking lot during a forestry conference and tried “to make a citizens’ arrest (of Campbell) for violations of the Forest Practices Act,” an Earth First! statement said. Demonstrators charged that Campbell “rammed his luxury sedan through a crowd of Redwood Summer protesters,” knocking one protester onto the hood of his car. The group charged that Campbell, whose company has been targeted by protesters, careened at high speed for about a mile with the protester clinging to the car’s hood before being stopped by the California Highway Patrol.
