County music singer Dottie West has filed for bankruptcy reorganization, citing $1 million in debts.

Documents filed Aug. 16 in U.S. Bankruptcy Court showed the singer’s biggest debt is a $703,090 home loan from First American Bank.

The bank recently foreclosed on the singer’s Williamson County house and she was ordered to vacate the property.

West, best known as one of Kenny Rogers’ duet partners, is a member of the Grand Ole Opry and has recorded such hits as “Country Sunshine” and “A Lesson In Leaving.” Her “Here Comes My Baby” in 1964 won country music’s first Grammy Award in the female vocalist category.

In a recent interview with The Tennessean newspaper, West said she was doing fine, although her financial problems had not been easy.

“I’m a survivor. You can knock me down, but you better have a big rock to keep me there,” she said.
