A Port Hueneme man accused of kidnaping and sexually assaulting his housemate and her 7-year-old daughter, then trying to kill the little girl in Las Vegas, is scheduled to be extradited to California next week, authorities said Monday.

Justo Dungca, 34, is charged with kidnaping, child molestation and attempted murder of the child. He is also charged with kidnaping and sexual battery of the mother.

Dungca is being held on $1-million bail in the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas, where he was arrested July 20.

On Monday, Clark County Chief District Judge Donald Mosley ordered Dungca extradited to face charges in California.

Investigators from the Port Hueneme Police Department and the Ventura County district attorney’s office are scheduled to fly to Las Vegas early next week to conduct interviews for a couple of days, then return with Dungca, who will be kept in the Ventura County Jail, Deputy Dist. Atty. Vincent J. O’Neill Jr. said.

On July 19, authorities said, Dungca bound and gagged the woman and her daughter in his bedroom, where he sexually assaulted the mother. Hours later, he forced them into a car and they drove to Anaheim, where the woman escaped but was unable to free her daughter, authorities said.

Dungca was found the next day in Las Vegas, where he was trying to sell the woman’s car, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Lt. Greg Jolley.

As police got near, Dungca caught the girl in a stranglehold and banged her head against a floor before officers could rescue her, Jolley said.
