NATION : Semantics Class Loses ‘F Word’
The “F word” has been eliminated from the curriculum at Evansville Central High School.
The Evansville-Vanderburgh School Board, in a 5-2 vote, ordered teacher Jim Wooten today to stop using the four-letter vulgarity for sexual intercourse in his class on semantics.
Wooten has taught the course for 15 years. Students and parents at Evansville Central were warned in advance that a segment of the three-month elective deals with profanity.
A school curriculum committee, responding to a complaint from a parent, ordered Wooten to stop using the word several weeks ago. Wooten appealed to the school board.
