Saying that “18 years is enough,” Cal State Fresno President Harold Haak announced that he is resigning effective next July. “I’m ready for a new challenge,” said Haak, who has headed the Fresno campus for 11 years. Before that, he was chancellor at the University of Colorado at Denver for seven years. Haak said he plans to remain in the academic community, although he will take a year off to travel and work on a novel. At 55, he said, he thinks he has an opportunity for a second career. He also is a professor in the university’s political science department. Once he steps down, Haak will be given a trustee professorship at the university.
