Figure in Murders and Forgery Case Tries Suicide Again
Mark Hofmann, convicted of forgery and the bombing deaths of two people in a case involving alleged Mormon Church documents, was recovering today from a drug overdose in his second suicide attempt, University of Utah Hospital officials said.
Hofmann, 36, was admitted to the University Hospital in critical condition Wednesday and upgraded to serious condition today.
“He’s been taken off a ventilator and is breathing on his own. He’s conscious and his vital signs are stable,” said hospital spokeswoman Anne Brillinger.
She said it was not known when the confessed killer and master forger would be returned to the Utah State Prison.
