WORLD : Bone Graft for Prince Charles
Prince Charles, heir to the British throne, is to have a bone graft on his right arm, which was broken in a polo accident in June, Buckingham Palace announced today.
The 41-year-old prince sustained a double fracture during the polo match. Although the top break healed, the bottom fracture showed no signs of getting better. Bone will be grafted from his hip to stimulate the joining of the bone in the arm.
The prince will be treated at a hospital in Nottingham by doctors employed by Britain’s National Health Service, rather than private doctors. No date has been set for the operation.
Charles is reported to have suffered constant pain since the accident, after which he spent three days in the hospital and has canceled public engagements.
