SIDELINES : Philadelphia Flyers Sign Czech

PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia Flyers have signed Czechoslovak center Martin Hostak, team General Manager Russ Farwell announced.
Terms of the contract weren’t disclosed.
Hostak, 22, has played for Sparta Praha in the Czechoslovak National League for the last four seasons and helped the team to the title last year, scoring 26 goals and 27 assists in 44 games.
He added five goals and seven assists in 11 playoff games. He was the third-leading scorer in the league last season.
The Flyers drafted Hostak in the third round of the 1987 NHL entry draft. He has been a member of the Czechoslovak National Team for the last two years and participated in the 1990 World Championships in Bern, Switzerland, last April and in the Goodwill Games in Seattle in July.
