Sept. 30 Walk-A-Thon to Benefit Homeless

The South Bay Branch of Lutheran Brotherhood in conjunction with Lutheran Social Services of Los Angeles will hold the 1990 Light Up the Night Walk-A-Thon on Sept. 30. Money raised by walkers and donors will be used to benefit the area’s homeless through the Interfaith Emergency Assistance Center in Inglewood.

The South Bay walk will begin at 5:30 p.m. on the Esplanade in Redondo Beach, beginning at Vista Del Mar and ending at Veterans Park on Torrance Boulevard at the ocean in Redondo Beach. Parking will be available at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 330 Palos Verdes Blvd., Redondo Beach.

T-shirts will be given to participants who bring with them donations of $25 or more. All donations are tax deductible. Prizes for the highest fund-raisers include a trip for two to Catalina Island, sportswear, restaurant dinners and more.

Pledge sheets and more information are available by calling 316-4798, 370-7840 or 379-8812. The South Bay Branch will match funds raised on a dollar-for-dollar basis, up to $2,336.
