SHOWDOWN: Conventional wisdom says that an incumbent with a healthy lead can only lose ground by debating. . . . Nonetheless, Lt. Gov. Leo T. McCarthy has agreed to spar with his Republican challenger, state Sen. Marian Bergeson--on Bergeson’s home turf, no less.
