Kirk McCaskill Named Angel of the Week

Pitcher Kirk McCaskill, who defeated Nolan Ryan and the Texas Rangers on Tuesday with a complete-game shutout, has been named Angel of the Week by The Times’ Orange County Edition.

The 29-year-old right-hander struck out four and allowed four hits in earning his 10th victory of the season. The shutout, his first since Aug. 20, 1989, lowered his earned-run average to 2.96, fifth-best in the American League.

A check for $250 in McCaskill’s name will be given to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Orange County.
