Schools on Four-Day Week to Save Energy

MANILA — Public and private schools went on a four-day week Monday to save energy because of the loss of oil supplies resulting from the Persian Gulf crisis.
All schools will close on Fridays at least until the end of October. Officials said the shortened week could be extended depending on the situation at that time.
