THOUSAND OAKS : Planned Street Work to Cost $1.6 Million

Share

Thousand Oaks will spend $1.6 million to improve streets and curbs in a neighborhood in the Old Town area, the council decided Tuesday night.

In a 5-0 vote, council members agreed to construct 36-foot-wide asphalt roads, place utility lines underground and construct a sound wall along the Ventura Freeway in the area of Royal Oaks Drive, Los Robles Road and Sunset Drive east of Hampshire Road.

Despite criticism that the sidewalks will be nearly inaccessible for the handicapped, the council decided to install rolled curbs along the streets to provide better water runoff.

Work is scheduled to begin in April.
